PCA Creative Writing students took three of the five awards in the 2008-2009 SC Young Poets Prize. Winners include William Dye (Grand Prize), Emily Padget (First Place) and Geoffrey Corvi (Honorable Mention).

Creative Writing Director Barbara Thomson's poem "Snow Day" placed second in the state-wide poetry contest last spring. Sponsored by SC Poetry Initiative and The STATE paper, there were over 6000 submissions. Some received monetary awards. Some poems will appear in this year's edition of The Yemassee, USC literary magazine.
